Haematologic patients and parenteral iron

Which haematologic patients should receive parenteral iron?

In my practice this represents patients with a pre-doomed or working diagnosis of iron deficiency and patients who are anaemic. They tend to be patients who cannot tolerate oral iron tablets and for whom the alternative is either blood transfusion or ongoing anaemia, says Dr. Paul Stross, Consultant Haemotologist, Dept Haemotology St. Richards Hospital, Chichester, UK.
